Protecting your privacy is important to Decriminalize Sex Work (DSW). We are committed to keeping your personal information confidential.

1. Why We Collect Personal Information

DSW collects and uses personal information to provide individuals with news and information regarding DSW. In addition, we use personal information to keep email subscribers up-to-date on the latest news and information we think they’d like to hear about.

2. Type of Data Collected

DSW collects some or all of the following information for users who voluntarily submit forms on decriminalizesex.work or dswork.org:
 • Name
 • Email
 • Phone number
 • Address
 • City
 • State
 • Browser information
 • Other information provided by users

3. Disclosing Contact Information

DSW will not share any of your personal information at any time with any organization. DSW will not rent or sell any personal information to a third party. We may contact you on behalf of another organization doing work related to ours. These updates will be sent by DSW personnel via DSW’s secure system. Your personal information will only be handled by DSW employees who are knowledgeable of all rules and policies regarding securely handling all information. They will protect your personal information in accordance with DSW’s Privacy Policy.

DSW is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for your personal information.

4. How We Protect Your Personal Information

DSW safeguards the security of the data you send us with physical, electronic, and managerial procedures. We urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data when you are on the internet.

DSW uses industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all webpages where donations are submitted. To make donations to DSW or organizations supported by DSW, you must use an SSL-enabled browser. (Any current version of Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Safari will work.) This protects the confidentiality of your personal and credit card information while it is transmitted over the internet.

5. Access to Your Personal Information

If you would like your personal information updated, modified, or removed, you can contact [email protected] with your request. If possible, please include your full name, postal address, phone number, and the email address at which you receive messages from DSW.

Portions of the decriminalizesex.work site (donation processing, email subscription, and Take Action items) are operated by a third-party service provider, Salsa Labs. You can manage your subscription here. See #12 for information on third party vendors.

6. Our Organizational Commitment to Privacy

DSW does not knowingly solicit personal information from children or send them requests for personal information.

DSW will not rent or sell any personal information to a third party. DSW’s website contains links to other sites. DSW does not share your personal information with those sites, nor is DSW responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to learn about the privacy policies of those organizations.

If we are going to use your personal information differently from what is stated here, we will try to contact you via email using the most recent information we have. If you have not given us permission to communicate with you, you will not be contacted, nor will we use your personal information in a new manner.

7. Cookies and Tracking Technology

This site uses cookies and tracking technology. The cookies are useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, tracking the number of visitors to the site, and understanding how visitors use the site. If you have enabled the Do Not Track feature of your browser on Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, or Chrome, the site’s cookie tracking technology will be disabled.

Anonymous user data is collected for site analytics from Google Analytics and WordPress’s Jetpack. You can learn more about their privacy policies here: Google Analytics and Jetpack. See #12 for information on third party vendors.

8. Collection of Information

DSW collects personally identifiable information, like names, postal addresses, email addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by our visitors. The information you provide is used to fulfill your specific request. Personal information submitted when donating to DSW or the Campaign to Decriminalize Sex Work (CDSW) — or when subscribing to DSW email alerts — will not be shared with other groups, but DSW may occasionally allow like-minded organizations to send mailings to you, whereby DSW doesn’t actually share your contact info with these like-minded organizations.

9. Third-party Advertising Cookies Opt-Out

We do not serve advertisements when you visit our website. Nevertheless, in addition to developing our privacy policy, we have provided you the opportunity to opt out of future third-party advertising cookies should our policy change in the future.

These terms do not cover the collection methods or use of the information collected by these vendors. These vendors have their own privacy policies and may be members of the Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”). To remove yourself from some or all NAI member advertising programs, please visit the NAI Opt-Out Page and follow the relevant instructions. Please note that if you delete, block, or otherwise restrict cookies, or if you use a different computer or internet browser, you may need to renew your opt-out choice.

10. Credit Card Information

Credit card numbers are not stored by us. They are submitted directly to a secure third-party vendor for processing.

11. Commitment to Data Security

Your personally identifiable information is kept secure. Only authorized employees and vendors (who have agreed to keep information secure and confidential) have access to this information. All emails and newsletters from this site allow you to opt out of further mailings.

12. Third-Party Service Providers

Portions of the decriminalizesex.work site (donation processing, email subscription, and Take Action items) are operated by a third-party service provider, Salsa Labs. Salsa Labs may log standard technical information, such as the numeric internet protocol (IP) address of the computer you are using; the browser software you use and your operating system; the date and time you access our site; and the internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our site.

Salsa Labs may also store and organize the personal information collected on DSW’s behalf.

From time to time, DSW may work with third-party consultants or other service providers who have access to personally identifiable information. In such cases, we will restrict their use of personally identifiable information in accordance with their assigned tasks and subject to the limitations of this privacy policy.
