This month, Decriminalize Sex Work (DSW) Legal Director Melissa Broudo joined fellow sex worker rights advocates for a panel hosted by the Stein Scholars Program in Public Interest Law & Ethics at Fordham Law School. The discussion, Decriminalizing Sex Work, featured advocates from Woodhull Freedom Foundation, DecrimNY, and Make the Road New York, who explored the urgent need to replace criminalization with policies that protect the health, safety, and rights of people in the sex trade.
The Stein Scholars Program engages Fordham Law students in pressing social justice issues while preparing them for careers in public interest law. DSW was honored to contribute to this dialogue and to connect with the next generation of public interest attorneys.
Broudo’s participation is part of a growing partnership between DSW and Fordham Law. Notably, DSW is collaborating with the Legislative Advocacy Clinic to advance critical legislation in New York that would expand protections for sex workers and trafficking survivors.
